Davy Basquin
Versatile musician, woodwind doubler ( saxophones,clarinets,flutes), Davy was trained in the Great Tradition of the French school of saxophone, starting at the Paris suburb conservatoire of Epinay-Sous-Sénart with Didier Foucher, he obtained a DEM from the CRR of Paris with Jean Ledieu and Philippe Portejoie, then perfected with Christian Wirth.
As a chamber musician , he played for a long time in duet with percussionist Jérôme Guicherd (with whom he won the Prix d’honneur at the Léopold Bellan Competition and first prize at the Unanimity at the UFAM international chamber music competition,and in the Vice &Versax saxophone quartet, he obtained with this training the 1st Prize unanimously with the congratulations of the jury of the international competition of chamber music of the UFAM and the 2nd prize of the national competition of the quartets of saxophones from Paris.
He has always worked in a wide variety of repertoires and has performed in such formations as the Toulon Opera, Orchestra Colonne, Ensemble Polychronies, Concert dans l’Oeil , … and has contributed to the creation of numerous works with (Nicolas Mondon, Etienne Perruchon, Ludovic Montet, Alain Berlaud, Regis Campo, Katharina Rosenberger, Christian Jous, Philippe Portejoie, Seongmi Kim…)
He currently plays with the trio L’échelle du souffle with Ludovic Montet and Jean-Philippe Causse, he’s the conductor of the Big Band de Colombes, he also plays clarinet in the septet Foxyland ,and is the baritone saxophone player with the PARISIANSWING Band.
His activities in pop music have allowed him to be with the Discovery of the Printemps de Bourges , winner of the festival Chorus des Hauts-de-Seine. He has recorded several albums, he has played with Nicole Croisille, Agnès Jaoui, Antoine Hervé, Vladimir Cosma, Laurent Cugny, Jean-Philippe Marthely ,Dédé Saint-Prix …
 Very passionate about pedagogy and holder of the Certificate of Aptitude (Master degree) for the professorship of saxophone issued by the Ministry of Culture, he teaches at the C.R.R. de Paris and the Conservatoire of the 11th and 13th Arrondissements of Paris. He is also didactics at the Pôle Supérieur d’enseignement du 93.
He is Artistic Adviser for Henri Selmer-Paris.
