Da-Hee Kim

Bio

Award-winning pianist Da-Hee Kim performs as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Europe, Korea, and the US. In recent seasons, she has appeared in Saison musicale at Musée Debussy in Saint-Germain-en-Laye in solo and in Festival de Fernand de la Tombelle at Palazzetto Bru Zane in Venice with her brother, Da-Min Kim.

Ms. Kim has played as a recitalist at Kumho Prodigy Concert, Young Artist Concert at Seoul Art Centre (recital hall), Festival Chopin à Paris, Festival du Pays du Matin calme à Saint-Germain-en-Laye, Congrès des Sociétés Chopin à Vienne, Festival Ars Terra, Soirée Musicale de Vénéjan, Festival Villeveyrac, and Pause Piano de Jeune Talents. She has appeared as a soloist with Seoul Symphony Orchestra, Varna National Orchestra, Russian Philharmonic Orhcestra, and Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. 

As an accompanist, she has collaborated with Thomas Leleu, Magali Mosnier, Sung-Won Yang, Tatsuki Narita, and Valérie Aimard in a diverse repertoire. As a chamber musician, she has performed Duo Ainos (in Hebrew: Praise) with her brother Da-Min Kim, concertmaster of Marseille Philharmonic Orchestra. Duo Ainos performed in the Festival Appassionata, l’Heure Musicale d’Alain Marinaro, Hôtel de Soubise, 2ème Rencontres Franco-Coréennes d’Art et de Culture in the Ferme de Villefavard, Musicales de Bagatelle, Arsenal de Metz, Opéra National de Lyon, Opéra de Marseille, and the prestigious Salle Cortot. They are the recipients of Banque Populaire Foundation scholarship for 3 years and won 2nd place at the International Chamber Music Competition of Lyon. 

She also recorded a debut CD with her brother, violinist, of the Richard Strauss Sonata with Lyrinx label on the 150th anniversary of the composer’s birth.

She had the opportunity to work in masterclasses with Arie Vardi, Jean-Claude Pennetier, Jean-Philippe Collard, Idil Biret, Jerome Rose, Leon Fleisher, and Aldo Ciccolini who appraised her as an “artist” on her performance of Chopin Fantaisie. She won top prizes in international competitions such as Albert Roussel International Junior Piano Competition of Sofia, Pianoopen International Competition of Mérignac, Claude Bonneton International Piano Competition of Sète, and Valletta International Piano Competition.

 Ms. Kim has worked as an accompanist for the conducting class at F. Chopin Conservatory in Paris. As an awardee of a full-time Accompanying Teaching Assistantship at Peabody Conservatory, she has accompanied instrumentalists and singers in their over 20 recitals during her coursework. As a piano instructor, she has been teaching students of different ages. She has taught Early Childhood Music at Peabody Preparatory.

 She also arranges and composes in classical style. Passionate with languages, she is trilingual in Korean, English, and French.

  Ms. Kim earned her Diplôme de Formation Supérieur (Bachelor + Master integrated) in Piano, Chamber Music, and Piano Accompaniment, and M.M in Musical Writing at Paris Conservatory, where she was a recipient of the 8th Daniel Magne Prize. She is also a holder of Meisterklassendiplom at the University of Performing Arts Munich in Elisso Virsaladze’s studio. Ms. Kim earned her DMA at the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University under the tutelage of Boris Slutsky in 2019. 

  She has been teaching Music Theory at Conservatoire Niedermeyer at Issy-les-Moulineaux since 2019.

As a mother of twin boys, David and Daniel, she enjoys baking and hiking with them in her spare time.
