Clementine Grimault is a French pianist and piano teacher with Asian roots.
Global citizen, she has performed solo as well as in collaboration with other artists, and taught piano, in France, the United Kingdom and Asia.
As a human enthusiast, and for a better interaction with the audience, she enjoys the lecture-recital style, collaborative works and cross-disciplinary projects.
Open minded towards all fields, she has also performed for corporate special events in France, and Asia. These include some luxury brands’ gala dinners, French Loire Valley castle festivals, and university general assemblies.
Thanks to her piano professor in London – British concert pianist and writer Paul Roberts, Clementine developed a keen interest in impressionist, modern and program music. She graduated with honours in 2014 from the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
Before that, she began her piano studies aged 10 at the Angers Conservatoire in France, under the direction of Mrs Lemée – a former student of Yvonne Loriod-Messiaen. She completed a full professional curriculum with French Conservatoire diplomas in Piano, Chamber music, and Music Theory (Solfege) aside from Science baccalaureat with Distinction, and a first year of Law degree.
As well as performing solo repertoire, Clementine likes to collaborate with other musicians. Eclectic, she also studied the fortepiano with American early keyboard performer Maggie Cole, to gain a more authentic experience about early keyboard repertoire, and piano technique development. Eager to participate in challenging experiences, she was cast in the dual role of pianist and actress in Iain Burnside’s musical play “Journeying Boys” in November 2013. It was performed in the then brand new Milton Court Theatre, Barbican, London.
Clementine has been fortunate to take part in Masterclasses and profit from advice from some internationally known piano masters, such as Bruno Rigutto, Pierre Réach, Charles Owen, Peter Bithell and Ronan O’Hora.
Always having been particularly fond of education and with a sense of generosity from a young age, Clementine enjoys sharing her passion by teaching. Since 2006 she has gained trust and had success with a broad range of piano students in France, London and Asia. She currently teaches piano at a Conservatoire in the Paris area.
