Jonathan LEMARQUAND began studying classical guitar at the age of 8 under Milia de Charadevian, then continued his training at the École Nationale de Musique de Saint-Germain-en-Laye in the class of Javier Quevedo. At the age of 16, he obtained his final diploma with excellence. He pursued his musical studies at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Cergy under Marc Audier and later Elisabeth Ehrlacher, earning a First Prize with highest honors from the jury. He further perfected his playing under Tania Chagnot at the Pôle d’Enseignement Supérieur de Musique de Bourgogne, where he obtained his Concert License with distinction. He also benefited from masterclasses and workshops with renowned guitarists such as Roland Dyens, Gérard Abiton, Éric Franceries, Pablo Márquez, Alvaro Pierri, and Eduardo Egüez.
Today, Jonathan LEMARQUAND performs regularly as a soloist in France and across Europe, presenting a diverse repertoire that includes original works, transcriptions, and personal arrangements. He also collaborates in chamber music formations, such as the guitar trio “LLomarisse” and early music ensembles “Passerelles” and “La Medida”. He performs on a concert guitar crafted by the French master luthier Olivier Pozzo; however, his passion for early music also leads him to play on historical instruments built by French luthier François Bonnet.
Alongside his instrumental training, he pursued pedagogy and music education, earning a State Diploma in his instrumental discipline as well as a Master’s degree in Music and Musicology from the Sorbonne University, allowing him to deepen his research on teaching methods and oral tradition music practices.
Currently, Jonathan LEMARQUAND is a tenured professor of classical and early guitar. Through both individual and group lessons, he develops a teaching approach centered on sound exploration, creativity, improvisation, and accompaniment, drawing upon both written and oral repertoire traditions.
