Thibaud Verbe holds First Prizes in Cello and Chamber Music from the Regional Conservatories (CRR) of Tours and Boulogne-Billancourt. He continued his training with Lluis Claret in Barcelona, where he had decisive encounters with major musical figures such as György Sebők (Bloomington, USA) and Bernard Greenhouse (Beaux-Arts Trio), who had a profound influence on his musical development. For nearly ten years, he was regularly invited to work alongside them, particularly in Ernen (Switzerland) and at the Abbaye Saint-Michel de Cuxa.
Upon returning to France, he further enriched his training through masterclasses with Valentin Erben (Alban Berg Quartet) and Anner Bylsma, before joining the advanced pedagogical training program at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, where he obtained his Certificat d’Aptitude. A laureate of the 6th German Claret Competition (Barcelona, 1993), he has performed as both a soloist and chamber musician at prestigious festivals in France and abroad, including the Tibor Varga Festival, Radio Suisse Romande, Ernen Musikdorf, Malta, Mauritius, Paris, and Lyon.
As part of the European Capitals of Culture program, he was invited to Cyprus for a series of concerts in 2017 and 2019, where he also gave cello masterclasses at the Paphos Conservatory.
Thibaud Verbe performs with the Primrose Ensemble and Trio, alongside Pierre-Henri Xuereb and Niu Ruixin. As a soloist, he was a member of the Ensemble Orchestral des Hauts-de-Seine and later the Orchestre Pari’s Musical for many years. He also collaborates regularly with various orchestras, including the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Massy, Orchestre des Pays de Savoie, and Orchestre de Chambre d’Île-de-France.
A curious and eclectic musician, he explores other artistic fields, particularly cinema. For several years, he has collaborated with composer Alain Moget on ciné-concert productions co-produced by the Théâtre National de Cergy.
In chamber music, he has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Emmanuelle Bertrand, Pierre-Henri Xuereb, Christophe Giovaninetti, Lluis Claret, Irina Mureșanu, Liza Kerob, and Jeff Thayer.
Alongside his career as a cellist, he is also invited to conduct various orchestral ensembles in concerts and festivals.
He teaches cello, chamber music, and conducts the symphony orchestra at the CRD of Argenteuil. Additionally, he is a trainer for the State Diploma (DE) at Pôle Sup 93.
As a co-author, he contributed to the book “10 years with the cello…” (Éditions Cité de la Musique, 2003) and wrote a musical tale, “Un certain air de famille”, a work tracing the history of music through the evolution of the viola da gamba and the cello.
Thibaud Verbe is the Musical Director of the Ensemble Musicassiopée and the founder and Pedagogical Director of the Musicassiopée Summer Academy, which he established in 2000.
