Guillaume Masson

Born in Orleans (France), Guillaume MASSON studied piano at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, where he got a master degree in interpretation. He also went abroad to perfect his playing at the Royal Academy of Music in London.

Laureate of many piano competitions, his passion for Chopin led him to take part to the 16th international Frederic Chopin Competition in Warsaw (2010), where he reached the semi-final.

He gives concerts and masterclasses worldwide, especially in Europe and Asia. In 2011, he released his first piano solo album of Mozart, Chopin, Ravel and Debussy piano works

Aside from his performing activities, he also studied music writing, which led him to do transcriptions for piano of orchestral works, from classical music to jazz and film soundtracks. One of his biggest work to this day is his piano versions of Studio Ghibli’s orchestral works (Hayao Miyazaki’s movies) composed by Joe Hisaishi. From this project, he released the album “Piano transcriptions” He also published all his transcription scores.

He has a master degree in pedagogy (from CNSMDP) and teaches at Paris conservatoires (7e and 10e arrondissements).
