Sylvain Carboni was born in 1984 and started the horn with his father at the age of 5 at the Conservatory of Perpignan. He got the diplomas of the horn and the chamber music with Jean-Pierre Cénédèse and Olivier Brouard. After his studies with Jean-Michel Vinit and Patrice Petitdidier at the Conservatories of Rueil-Malmaison and Gennevilliers, he was admitted to the Conservatory of Paris (CNSMDP) in the class of Prof. André Cazalet. During his Erasmus-exchange he continued his studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater „Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy“ Leipzig with Prof. Thomas Hauschild. Member of Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra and the French Youth Orchestra, he is the winner of several international competitions in Porcia, Tarragona and Sannicandro di Bari and semi­finalist of the Prague Spring Competition. He performed as a soloist and an orchestral musician in France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Austria. Since 2010 he is co­-principal horn player at the Opéra de Marseille.
