Olivier Laville

The French pianist Olivier Laville (1988) is studying at the “Musikhochschule” in Freiburg with Eric Le Sage, and also at the CNSM Paris in the pedagogic program.

He is also trained in chamber music by Paul Meyer and Eric Le Sage in Paris. He studied before at the “Hochschule für Musk” in Cologne with Josef-Anton Scherrer and Arbo Valdma.

He was previously trained by Romano Pallottini at the « Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Saint-Maur », where he obtained the « Diplôme Supérieur d’Etudes Musicales” (D.S.E.M) in 2009. He is a laureate of the Parisian society « Les Amis de la Musique » (2008).

Olivier started learning to play the piano at the age of four with Frédéric Demoulin and won the San Sebastian International Piano Competition in 1999. He was still very young when he received his first lessons from Billy Eidi at the “Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional” in Paris, where he also received several “Premiers Prix” in Chamber Music and Harmony. During his advanced classes at the C.R.R in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés he got the following awards: “Diplôme d’Etudes Musicales” (D .E .M), First Prizes in chamber music, sight-reading, harmony. He obtained a First-Prize in piano performance with first class honors in June 2007. Two years later he was awarded the « Prix de Perfectionnement » and the « Diplôme Supérieur d’Etudes Musicales (D.S.E.M)”.

Olivier has performed several times as a soloist, a.o. in Haydn’s D Minor Concert with the “Orchestre de Saint-Maur” (2008). Immediately after he arrived in Cologne, he was the one chosen to perform Mozart C Major Concerto KV467 with the Hochschule-Orchester at the Sadthalle in Wuppertal.

He played in masterclasses for Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Vassily Lobanov, Denis Pascal, Georg-Friedrich Schenck, Prisca Benoit, Kevin Robert Orr and Aleksandar Madzar. He was also trained by Cécile Hugonnard-Roche for the piano and the accompaniment; that is why he often play as accompanist for example at the Summer Academy of the cellist Claus Kanngiesser, teacher at the Musikhochschule in Cologne.

Olivier has been playing with the cellist Camille Seghers, who just obtained a Master Degree with the first honor at the Musikhochschule, for several years. They had coaching with Jan Vogler, Claus Kanngiesser, Antony Spiri, Edmond Baert, Didier Poskin, the Danel-Quartet and the Isarel Trio. They played several concerts in France, Belgium and Germany, being invited by the « Festival Jeunes Talents” in Paris, the Osterfestival in Bayreuth, the “Musicales du Parc de Wesserling”, Concertstudio in Kortrijk, “Festival Jeunes Talents” in Loudun, “5 à 7 musical” in Arradon…

Their duo got many positive reviews and tries to promote neglected repertoire, with a special interest for contemporary music. Their first recording will be dedicated to french musik for cello and piano, with Poulenc, Debussy, Duparc and Mel Bonis cello sonatas.
