François Narboni

A French composer and percussionist born in 1963, he studied musical writing with Yvonne Desportes, then composition with Betsy Jolas at the Paris Conservatory where he unanimously won first prize in composition.

François Narboni is the author of a catalog of nearly seventy works ranging from solo pieces to large orchestra, using voice and electronics, which have been commissioned by numerous institutions (Ministry of Culture, Radio-France, Musique Nouvelle en Liberté, Ircam, etc.) and are performed in France and abroad by the main ensembles and orchestras : 2E2M, Accroche-Note, Court-circuit, Diotima, ECO, Fa, Forum, Ictus, Intercontemporain, Itinéraire, Los Angeles Contemporary Music Ensemble, Lucillin, Singapore Youth Choir, Soli-Tutti, Stravinsky, Symblêma, Taipei chamber singers, Télémaque, Zelig, Devlet Senfoni Orkestrasi (Istanbul), Orchestre Colonne, orchestras of Lorraine, Lyon, Radio-France, Toulon, Turin …

François Narboni holds two international prizes, scholarship holder from the Casa Velázquez in Madrid (1998), laureate of the Villa Médicis Hors-les-Murs in New York (1999), prize from the Academy of Fine Arts (2000), laureate of the Beaumarchais Foundation (2006), “Claude Arrieu” prize from Sacem and “New music talent” from SACD (2008), Chevalier de l’ordre des arts et des lettres (2014).
